The Missouri Athletic Trainers’ Association has several standing committees and other committees, task forces, or councils that work toward improving the operation of the association.  The members who volunteer to serve on these committees offer a valuable service to all MoATA members and to those who utilize the services of athletic trainers.

There are several open committee chair positions for our Political Action Committee, Council On Practice Advancement, and Foundation Chair. More information on what those committees entail are below. Standing Committees

Intercollegiate Council for Sports Medicine (ICSM)

Chair, Kelly Quinlin, MS, ATC, LAT, CSCS –

The function of this committee is to enhance the educational and professional opportunities for the College/University certified-licensed Athletic Trainer and to address any issues pertinent to the practice setting of College/University Athletic Trainers.

College/University Athletic Training Students’  Committee (CUATSC)

Chair, Bill Dill, MS, ATC, LAT, CSCS –

The function of this committee is to enhance the educational and professional opportunities for the College/University Athletic Training Student, address any issues pertinent to the practice and educational setting of the Athletic Training Student, communicate with the student membership of MoATA, and promote and conduct activities to encourage MoATA membership to Athletic Training Students.

Council on Professional Advancement (COPA)

Chair, OPEN

The function of this council is to advance the practice of athletic training in business and employment opportunities and recognition of ATs as health care professionals through education of the membership and the public. COPA members represent all settings, including clinical and emerging practices, with experience in billing, revenue generation, reimbursement, job creation and practice advancement.

Governmental Affairs Committee (GAC)

Chair, Morgan Simpson, ATC –

The function of this committee is to monitor state and federal legislation affecting health care and the practice of Athletic Training and promote member involvement in legislative processes at the state and national level. The chair of this committee serves as a liaison to MoATA lobbyist(s) and represents Missouri on the District V Governmental Affairs Committee.

Honors and Awards Committee

Chair,  Diane Bartholomew, ATC –

The function of this committee is to solicit nominations for the Missouri Sport Medicine Hall of Fame, Athletic Trainer of the Year, and Glenn L. McElroy, MD Outstanding Service Award.  The committee reviews all nominations and selects recipients for awards to be distributed at the annual meeting and symposium.

LGBTQ+ Advisory Committee (LGBTQAC)

Chair, Jamie Smith, MS, ATC, LAT

The function of this committee is to advocate for an environment of inclusion, respect, equity and appreciation of differences in both athletic trainers and their diverse patient populations. The committee will identify, explore, address and provide educational resources regarding emerging topics and concerns relevant to diverse sexualities, gender identities and gender expressions within the profession and health care topics affecting patients in the LGBTQ+ community.

Professional Meetings Committee (PMC)

Chair, Scott Winslow, MS, ATC –

The function of this committee is to select the site of the Annual Meeting, with the approval of the Executive Committee and to coordinate all programs and functions at the Annual Meeting and Clinical Symposium (e.g. program, meals, speakers, registration) in conjunction with the local meeting host/coordinator.

Secondary Schools Athletic Training Committee (SSATC)

Chair, Owen Iseminger, MS, ATC –

The function of this committee is to address current issues germane to the practice setting of Secondary School Athletic Training and enhance and promote the practice setting of Secondary Schools.

Young Professionals Committee (YPC)

Chair, Michael Schwarzer, MS, ATC –

The function of this committee is to develop strategies to increase recruitment, retention, volunteer involvement and annual meeting attendance among young athletic training professionals, provide programs, activities and educational opportunities to address young professional needs and promote professional socialization of young professionals. NATA Research and Education Foundation

State Representative,  Brett McQueen, MS, ATC –

The function of this committee is to promote the mission of the Foundation to the members of MoATA, advise members of developments affecting the practice of athletic training, and encourage participation in Foundation initiatives and activities.

Athletic Training Student Leadership Council (AT-SLC)

President, Jessica Cobban –

The function of this council is to promote student involvement in professional development activities, enhance communication among athletic training students across the state, and develop leadership skills among the student members of MoATA.

Political Action Committee (PAC)

Chair, OPEN

The Missouri Athletic Trainers PAC is not a committee of MoATA. It’s purpose is to support candidates who are committed to quality health care in Missouri. The Missouri Athletic Trainers PAC is a non-profit and non-partisan organization that accepts contributions from members and others, and makes contributions to candidates who support the interests of athletic trainers in Missouri. MAATA Ethnic Diversity Committee

State Representative  Anna Casaleggi –

The Ethnic Diversity Committee serves to identify and address issues relevant to the ethnically diverse populations to better serve the needs of both patients and fellow athletic trainers. The committee advocates sensitivity toward cultural diversity, development of cultural competence within the profession and promotion of athletic trainers as leaders in issues related to cultural competence and professional diversity within the health care professions.
