Athletic training is practiced by athletic trainers, health care professionals who collaborate with physicians to optimize activity and participation of patients and clients. Athletic training encompasses the prevention, diagnosis, and intervention of emergency, acute, and chronic medical conditions involving impairment, functional limitations, and disabilities. Are you licensed to practice in Missouri? Athletic Trainers are licensed healthcare professionals through the Missouri Department of Professional Registration's Board of Healing Arts. Licensure is NOT optional and athletic trainers practicing without licensing or with a expired license are subject to new disciplinary procedures. Any Certified Athletic Trainer who is hired to work in Missouri, including Graduate Assistants, must apply for and receive their license before beginning their duties.
