    The function of this council is to advance the practice of athletic training in business and employment opportunities and recognition of ATs as health care professionals through education of the membership and the public. COPA members represent all settings, including clinical and emerging practices, with experience in billing, revenue generation, reimbursement, job creation and practice advancement.

    Initiatives of Committee:

    o MoATA Annual Meeting COPA Educational Session: Coordinating and offering at least one COPA-related education session at the Annual Meeting

    o COPA Setting Interview Project: Capturing first-hand accounts of Missouri athletic trainers working in COPA settings for the purpose of informing the membership and athletic training students about a variety of career paths.

    o COPA Setting Resource Inventory: Curate an inventory of Missouri athletic trainers working in COPA settings available as a resource for athletic training students or athletic trainers interested in entering that setting.

    The function of this committee is to monitor state and federal legislation affecting health care and the practice of Athletic Training and promote member involvement in legislative processes at the state and national level. The chair of this committee serves as a liaison to MoATA lobbyist(s) and represents Missouri on the District V Governmental Affairs Committee.

    The function of this committee is to solicit nominations for the Missouri Sport Medicine Hall of Fame, Athletic Trainer of the Year, and Glenn L. McElroy, MD Outstanding Service Award. The committee reviews all nominations and selects recipients for awards to be distributed at the annual meeting and symposium.

  • Chair, OPEN

    The function of this committee is to advocate for an environment of inclusion, respect, equity and appreciation of differences in both athletic trainers and their diverse patient populations. The committee will identify, explore, address and provide educational resources regarding emerging topics and concerns relevant to diverse sexualities, gender identities and gender expressions within the profession and health care topics affecting patients in the LGBTQ+ community.

    The function of this committee is to select the site of the Annual Meeting, with the approval of the Executive Committee and to coordinate all programs and functions at the Annual Meeting and Clinical Symposium (e.g. program, meals, speakers, registration) in conjunction with the local meeting host/coordinator.

    The function of this committee is to develop strategies to increase recruitment, retention, volunteer involvement and annual meeting attendance among young athletic training professionals, provide programs, activities and educational opportunities to address young professional needs and promote professional socialization of young professionals.     This committee addresses issues affecting athletic trainers as they advance in their careers from early professionals. The committee focuses on work-life balance, career satisfaction, career growth and professional retention for athletic trainers within 7-12 years of initial certification.

    The Missouri Athletic Trainers PAC is not a committee of MoATA. It’s purpose is to support candidates who are committed to quality health care in Missouri. The Missouri Athletic Trainers PAC is a non-profit and non-partisan organization that accepts contributions from members and others, and makes contributions to candidates who support the interests of athletic trainers in Missouri.     The Ethnic Diversity Committee serves to identify and address issues relevant to the ethnically diverse populations to better serve the needs of both patients and fellow athletic trainers. The committee advocates sensitivity toward cultural diversity, development of cultural competence within the profession and promotion of athletic trainers as leaders in issues related to cultural competence and professional diversity within the health care professions.
