AT Compact Signed by Missouri’s Governor Kehoe

📢 BIG NEWS FOR MISSOURI ATHLETIC TRAINERS! 📢

I am absolutely thrilled to share a historic milestone for our profession in the Show-Me State. Yesterday, July 13, 2026, Governor Mike Kehoe officially signed HB 2974 into law!

With his signature, Missouri has officially adopted the Athletic Trainers Compact (AT Compact)!

This is a massive advocacy victory for MoATA, our members, and the patients we serve. The AT Compact is a game-changer that will:

  • Enhance Professional Mobility: It allows licensed ATs in Missouri to easily obtain "privileges to practice" in other compact member states without going through tedious, redundant, and costly individual state licensing processes.

  • Improve Continuity of Care: Whether practicing in person or leveraging modern telehealth innovations, ATs can now support athletes and patients across state lines seamlessly.

  • Support Our Military Families: The compact significantly eases the career transition and licensing burdens for relocating active-duty military personnel and their spouses.

  • Maintain Safety Standards: Importantly, this framework streamlines practice across borders while fully preserving state regulatory sovereignty and our high standards for public protection.

This achievement is the result of tireless advocacy, dedication, and collaboration. I want to extend a huge thank you to our bill sponsors, the legislators who champion physical health and workforce flexibility, Governor Kehoe, and every single MoATA member who reached out to their representatives.

We are proud to take this giant leap forward for athletic training in Missouri!
